Re: Boat leak

If it is on a trailer I have heard people recommend in the past to fill the boat with a couple inches of water and look around the outside of the hull and see where it is leaking out. Seems as though it should work.

Re: Boat leak

One way I found a leak in my hull that I couldn't identify (that was below the floor boards) was to fill the bilge area below the floor boards with water from a hose. Then I crawled under the trailer and figured out where the drip was coming from - a small crack in the aluminum hull.

Re: Boat leak

An Iboats boater recomended me, to put baby powder around the potantiel areas after drying the boat on the trailer and put it on the water.

And keep your eye on it, you can immediatelly see where it is coimng from.

Re: Boat leak

I have a similar problem and have been instructed to check the live well(s) inlet line. That line may have a crack or leak that is not noticable from the outside of the hull. I understand it is a common and difficult to analyze problem. Now the question is how to repair this problem. Is it possible to block the inlet to check for leak or if leaking stop leak by blocking and bypass use of live well.

...maybe at the front hook where you winch it on the trailer?

Re: Boat leak

I'm going to tell on myself here but it might help you. I can't believe I was this dumb. One of my boats is self bailing, it has two rubber flaps on the transom at floor level. When there is a lot of weight in the stern of the boat those flaps are under water. If you don't need the self bailing function it is best to put plugs in those holes, they do leak and for a long time I thought my boat had a leak somewhere.

Re: Boat leak

hey i have a feeling it could be one of the livewell lines. i have a baitwell and a livewell, i dont know how i can possibly get to the baitwell line because it is under the front casting deck. i have checked the back one but no sign of a leak there.
