Hello.
Once you have the manuals and the sources for spare parts you will see that it is quite easy.
The technology is simple and straight forward.
As long as you don't try any short cuts, you should be alright.
Usually what you find out with these engines is that it is mostly a matter of replacing dried out rubber ,spark plugs and contact points.
What ever you do,do not try to run her out of the water without a barrel or "earphones" (I suspect those won't fit)and do not try to start her up with ether.
Last but not least: There are many spare parts available although chances are that your local dealer does not have them.Usually you will find it cheaper to order them from a used outboard engine shop.
Happy puttering.

Tempo still makes the garden hose adapter for running these engines out of water. Got mine from West Marine last year. Ask for their Tempo catalog and special order it. About $29.

We can help you with parts for this engine and save you money. Closed our dealership and still have many parts and service literature for older engines. Selling parts at 1/2 of the mfg. suggested list price.
Email: linda@nu-z.net
