Hi All,
I have a mid 70's 9.9 and it has run great for the last 4 years since I have owned it. Recently it started giving me problems by stalling out whenever I get movement. What I mean is that on calm water it runs fine but as soon as another boat goes by me or I get into anything more than "calm" it just dies. It seems that it is the up-and-down movement that does it. side-to-Side movement is less predictable.
Has anyone encountered this before?
Thanks for taking the tme to read this :)

My guess is something with the kill circuit.
Power head movement may be pinching a wire or rubbing insulation bare.

Hi Arodue
I have experienced this problem and found
cause to be corrosion in exhaust allowing water to
enter cylinders. I know this sounds strange but imagine a bottle pushed upside down into water, you get air trapped in it, but if air can escape it will fill with water. This is what happened to my O\B the Exhaust and gasket corroded away and every time rough water was encountered the motor misfired and quit. But was ok in river.Very frustrating!
Many O\B that run well with flush attachments but not in (real) water suffer this fault.
