E.Teach, That little red thing that looks like a bike tire is the electric primer for the carbs. The red lever should be inline with the unit for normal operation. Turn it for manual prime. The key switch is depresed in to prime the carbs. When you press the key in you should hear the pump click. Pull off any of the tiny black hoses off the carb at the very top and push the key in and you should see fuel comming out. If not that means you either have a clog or the primmer needs a rebuild kit. Could have been your problem for 3 hrs.
steve

E.Teach, No I its electric. I think the schrater valve is for winterizing only! If I remember it is placed in maual prime and 4-6 lbs of air is used. But don't quote me on that.
steve

E-TEACH,

That Schrader valve is used for introducing a decarbonizing agent into the carbs. It can also be used for fogging.

The others had it right on the primer solonoid.

The best way to start one of these is to:

1. Turn the key to the on position.
2. Push in on the key and count to eight.
3. Release the key and turn to start.

E teach if your fuel line became dislodged while running with vro system then vro pump continued to pump oil until engine stalled from lack of fuel. Also , likely sucked in considerable amount of air through dis connected fitting.More than likely it was difficult to restart because you had extremely oil rich condition and air bound fuel pump until you were able to work it through carbs by running. The same air motor driven unit that actuates the fuel pump actuates the oil pump.
