2001 fitch evinrude 225

Purchased new engine in June 225 2001 Evinrude fitch Ram .Probaly clocked 80 hours, Engine runs fine a full throttle. Sounds terrible at low rpm. Puttering like almost stalling sound. Any recommendations outside the old tune up?

check crank position sensor air gap

Pull the plugs, you will probably find that the gap is around .040"+. Regap to .028" or replace them, they need to be changed at 100 hour intervals. The plugs are indexed, so be sure to put them back in the same hole.<br /><br />The August issue of Bass and Walleye Boats has a good article on FICHT servicing.
