Have 72 Johnson 4hp. Does anybody know the shear pin size for this motor? The manual I have doesn't give a size. Would appreciate any help I can get.

Don

Re: SHEAR PIN SIZE

Thanks, Sloopy. I may just have to do that. A local marine store has a big assortment of pins but, unfortunately no reference chart. The nearest Johnson dealer is several towns away and I was just trying to save myself a trip.

BTW - The Johnson is a Model #4W72S

Don

Hey Sloopy:

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just double checked the model number on the manufacturer's plate on motor.

Model is 4W72S as indicated in previous posting. What can I say. Any other opinions?

Don

Re: SHEAR PIN SIZE

my chart does not have it. I would bring the prop to the store with you and buy one that looks like it would fit.

Good luck

Re: SHEAR PIN SIZE

My Frabill chart shows a #16 for the 1972 4 HP "W" series (1/8 x 1 1/4). I have these in stock. We closed the dealership after 31 years but still have many parts, props, service literature and msc. items for sale at great savings.
Email: linda@nu-z.net

Re: SHEAR PIN SIZE

ALL SET................

Got my pins. Time to get back to fishing.

SLOOPY - Thanks for your effort(A+). The model number was valid. I was told the "W" in the model number indicated a weedless prop (angled) configuration. Thanks for taking the time to post some replies.

RETIREDMAN - Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I didn't read your reply until later today after I had picked up the pins. You were right on and I thank you for your posting.

That said, I guess it is time to let this thread die.

Don
