Johnson 40 - help

RDS-23 - any idea what year this model number represents? I've tried to go to the Johnson / Evinrude site suggested for this and it seems to be off the air. Any help?

thanks for the info on the vintage - where can i order points, condensers, spark plugs and wires, coils and a carburetor kit - needs all of the above as it cuts out after it gets warm - sitting for three years - i read in one of the other chats that this Johnson 40 hp is prone to cutting out and carb problems - any input?

All these are readily available at your dealer. Mine had everything I needed for a '56 35hp johnny. While you are there spending money pick up an impeller for your water pump and replace. You won't regret it.
