Hey guys, if cyl 2,4,6, are not firing, does this mean that the power pack is bad on that side? If so, should I replace both power packs at the same time, is that a good idea?
Thanks, Scootter
Both packs are identical. Easy enough to check the pack by switching the starboard pack (1,3,5) over to the port (2,4,6) side. If you now have spark on 2,4,6, install one new pack. No need to replace both at the present time, but it is a good idea to have a spare on hand.
Joe, I gotta ask you a question. I just put a power pack in my 1996 Evinrude Ocean Pro, 175 HP. There was only one power pack for all six cylinders. When did they change?
Mumble..... The changeover varied with the horsepower. Many engines still use dual packs, The 200/225 changed to a single pack in 1988. It gets a little confusing at times.
Guess what! Installed a new power pack on the port side and now the engine is running perfect. Have spark on 2,4,6 cyl now. Going boating this weekend. Thanks so much for your help!
Scootter
