I found the serial number 559567 and Model number TD-20 for this outboard but am unsure of the year. Thinking it might be 1946. Runs well, but needs a new gasket. Seems to be drawing air and conking out after one day of use. Is there any infor you can provide about the engine itself and where in the Tampa area would you recommend to have the engine serviced. Thanks

Re: Johnson Seahorse

Jatrick..... That engine (TD-20) is a 1946-49 5hp Johnson. Sorry to say that it's very unlikely that you'll find any dealership that will work on it.

At the present labor rate, the labor charges alone would exceed by far the value of the engine quite quickly.

Curious.... what gasket are you speaking of? Some of us may have it still in stock. If you know the part number of the gasket, that would be a plus.

Re: Johnson Seahorse

the TD-20 model designation was used on the 5hp from 1946 thru 1949

Jatrick64
You might consider making your own gasket, depending on which one it is. If you're talking a Carb gasket or something simple, just get the same material and cut it yourself. Just a thought!!

Try Bill Mayer at Mayer's Marina #585-323-1010
He services these engines and he has ways to get almost anything you need for this engine.
You should hurry if you want to catch him before he goes down south for the rest of the winter.
