I have a 1997 225 Ocean Runner that I bought used last summer. The warning horn seems to be malfuctioning because as soon as you turn the key to the on position the horn will sound continuously. I have taken the horn off until I can get another one. My question is will the S.L.O.W. system protect my motor in case of overheating while the horn is disconnected.

The S.L.O.W will do what it does without the horn.

c/6

Hooty

Re: 225 Johnson Question

PaperDuck..... In all probability the horn is faulty or the two wire tercminals were installed in a reverse order.

However, I strongly suggest that you DO NOT run that engine until you replace that horn. Without it, you could encounter a oil or overheat problem and you wouldn't know about it until the powerhead came to a screeching halt.... a very expensive mistake!
