I have a 1976 Evinrude 70hp, was this motor tested at flywheel or propeller.

Reson I am asking I want to install it on a Lund fishing boat which is rated 60hp max.

Weight should be equivalent or not much difference from newer 60hp.

Thanks

Ahoy, Valv.

Your '76 engine was rated at the crank and probably made about 62-63hp at the prop.

If your insurance company will cover it you should be okay. Later versions of the same basic powerhead were rated at the prop as low as 60 and as high as 75.

Good luck. :)

JB,

thank you for your reply, I am still not sure I will use it, motor has a lot of power it pushed an 1850 very well and I am debating if it's still too much for this boat.

I will look for a 40hp or 50hp, and maybe trade in mine.

I've got a good '89 40hp that I wouldn't mind upgrading to a larger motor. Perhaps your interested in some sort of trade? Minnesota is not too far a ride for me.

Let me know... markg@imaxx.net
