Getting ready to buy my 1st boat. It has a 35HP 1969
Johnson outboard on it... I haven't seen it yet. I hear it did run fine until the "box" mounted to the back of the boat got submerged under water and corroded, this supposedly controls the starting of the boat and evertyhing else. I am not much on boats yet and have no idea what this is called, where to find one,how much it costs, or whats its called. I am out of town a lot so please e-mail me at: BYoung1519@sigecom.net

Thanks.

Re: 1969 Johnson Outboard

Brandon..... OMC did not make a 35hp in 1969, nor is there any junction box incorporated with it. I strongly suggest that you avoid purchasing that rig/engine unless the present owner can get it running to your satisfaction. If the junction box went underwater, I would suspect that possibly the engine also went that route to a degree.

At any rate, get the model number of the engine and we'll pinpoint exactly what it is.

Good advice Joe,

Experienced only boat motor people should buy a motor that does'nt run. A man has got to know his limitations.

Especially for a persons 1st boat.
