proublem 1990 150hp evinrude, it over heated and blew the head gasket , low compression on 1 cyl and no compression on the other,
changed the head gasket and compression came back on the low one and back on the one with none to within 10pounds of all the others
changed both thermostats
the water pump seems to be pumping, because it comes out of the pee hole at a good rate, i will change the pump just be on the safe side.
i ran the moter with earmuffs and it is running hot,the water coming out of the pee hole is cold.and i pulled the plug on the cyl that had no compression and it looks like there is still water getting in. it is not burning clean but more like the milkey white you would find on the dipstick on a car that had water in the oil.
could it be the block or the water jacket gasket ? any help would be greatly appreciated
John

Mr. Gibbs,

If it's the bottom cylinder, I would suspect a lower crankshaft seal.

pull the head and check your rings on that on the pistons by moveing them back and forth manally see if water is getting in also change you thermistate
