Starts fine and runs at low speed (no wake speed) without dying. Idles alittle rough and dies at idle. Main problem is about 500 - 600 yards after getting up on plane motor dies suddenly (just like you turned off the key). Restarts fairly easy, back on plane for a few hundred yards and dies again. Will not run for more than a few hundred yards. Can any one help?

Hello,
You may want to check to be sure that the fuel tank is venting properly and that the primer bulb or fuel lines are all ok.

Push your choke in when your running at wot. If the engine picks up you have a fuel restriction. You might want to pull the bottom srew on the carb where your high speed jet is and take a can of carb cleaner with the little red straw and squirt some cleaner into the high speed jet for 3 seconds. squeeze your primer bulb and let some fuel run out of each hole. Put all four screws back in the high speed jets and take it out for a ride.

The first time I had my 6hp outboard out, I had the same problem. It was my fuel line bulb. The next year the same thing happened and it was my fuel line fittings. It would idle and run at no-wake speed all day but about 15-30 seconds after leaving no-wake at WOT, it would just shut off. Replaced bulb, fittings, and hose. Problem solved.

Stone
