Cranked it back up at idle speed , still no water, i idled up then i had water from pee hole off and on so i shut it down and here i am. have had no work done to lower unit lately. does this seem to be a water pump and impeller issue?

rcselby,if it's been two or more seasons since waterpump was changed, I would suspect it is due. This is just one of those things that you don't want to second guess.Outboard waterpumps, unlike a closed cooling system waterpump are exposed to crude conditions and require periodic attention.Go ahead and change the thermostats out while you're at it.If you decide to, while you have the lower unit down ,I also recommend changing out the pump discharge tube seal and exhaust boot seal.Good luck.
