Hello,
My 2cyl 50hp electric shift fails to fire. It is intermittent. One minute its ok...next minute its no fire on either plug. Trigger coil checks out ok on resistance value published in manual. Charging coil (not alternator) for CDI checks out ok too. Last chance is the CDI module. What should I get first as a gamble. When its dead...niether plug fires so I dont think it would be both of the Ignition coils.
A. Trigger coil (called something like timing device in manual) could be intermittently failing to trigger, but the resistance ck is ok.
B. Charge coils in series could fail to charge capacitor in CDI if open..but resistance ck is ok too.
C. The CDI Module.
I realize that any intermittent open circuit on these first 2 parts would fail to charge or trigger the CDI.
What is the most probable part to be intermittent? CDI maybee beings its electronic but do you think one of the coils could be intermittnetly open circuit? Any place to get used parts as opposed to $150 for new CDI module?
Thanks much for any ideas..Kentucky Vic

Never should have sold the old Lark 40. 25 years I owned it and it still started first pull EVERY year. Thanks again Vic S. vls@juno.com
