Johnson 88hp jecks every 5 seconds

1990 Johsnon 88 hp jecks about every 5 seconds while running. I have replaced the spark plugs and there is good spark at each plug.

If it jerks and clunks it is probably a bad clutch<br />dog. If you are fairly mechanically inclined<br />it is a pretty straight forward repair.

Do you have a tachometer? If so, does it respond with the jerk/clunk?

Thanks for your help. I do have a tachometer on my boat. I check that out next time I'm out on the water. I also will check my manual for the clutch idea.
