Carckorn:

Those numbers do not come up to any year/hp/model on an Internet search, the only thing I can find is that Sportwins seem to be from the 30s and 40s, and people are listing model numbers like 4423 for 3.3 hp and 9922 for 9.5 hp. See if you can find a four-digit number similar to that anywhere.

Boatproject's right, I think your looking at OMC part numbers cast into castings. They're in the right range for that.
You'll need to be looking at the transom clamp for the nameplate with a model number stamped in it. It'll probably be 5 digits and start with 28 or 33, like 33602. If it's not there try looking at the welch plug (silver disk) on top of the engine, just the spark plug side of the pull start mechanism.

Re: Evinrude year/hp???

Guys, thanks for the help. I just checked the motor out again and didn't find much. There apparently was a rectangular plate on the transom mount but it's gone. There was another 6 digit number stamped into the inside of the transon mount- 309761
Also, under the flywheel, right above where the connecting rod to the top cylinder is, there's 379499 stamped into the block. Thanks again.

Hello.
This is going to be a guess but judging from the parts numbers you are probably looking at an early to mid sixties 9.5 horsepower sportwin. This a only a slightly educated guess and you should look for a model number probably on the top of the transom mount.

Well, if this helps at all, the carburator is on the side of the flywheel and the entire motor is short and fat. It's painted turquoise and the cover is white. Is there a site to find manuals for old Evinrudes?

The 9.5 hp were made 1964-1973.
Check the link below for a repair manual.
