Hi folks....<br /><br />No misunderstanding. The rectifier takes the AC and converts it to DC. It's what is called a rippling DC but none the less DC. Now I'm going to impress the heck right outta ya.<br /><br />Inside the rectifier are four diodes arranged into what is called a bridge. What this bridge does is chop off the negative side of the AC and only lets the positive side of the AC through. So in electrical jargon, ya' get a rippling DC. And that's really what happens. <br /><br />Looking at the part numbers for your particular engine, I don't see any rectifier with the number you posted. It's posible someone may have put a rectifier on that could not take the amp output of your engine. Or your stator could have a short in it. Just one more thing before I end this post, ALWAYS make sure you get the battery cables on the right terminals of the battery. If you don't, you will fry the rectifier....literally.
