I have a 1972 Evinrude Lark 50 that felt like it has a slipping clutch..I had power to go slow but just before my boat got up on a plane the motor rpm shot up and the boat slowed down. I regained partial power after I reduced the throttle. I checked the pin at the prop and it has not been sheared. Does anyone know what my outboard motor problem is?

Hey Tubby, welcome to the forum...

What you have is a classic case of the "spun hub". The rubber bushing in side the prop has lost it's grip, so to speak, and will spin at a certain torque. Motor rpms go up but you get no speed. Make a mark from the inner hub to the outter prop shell. Put the rig in the water and after the engine does what she does, take a look at the hub. If the mark is misaligned, the hub is spun.
