Old 6 hp Johnson Seahorse info request

Hello, <br /> I recently accuired an old 6 hp Johnson Seahorse. I need to know what year, oil/gas ration, plug gap, point gap and anything else about this motor. Model CD23-E Serial #J2697448.<br /> I also have a 5 1/2 hp Seahorse, Model CD18 Serial #21480(thats what it says) that I would also like info on.<br /> I have looked around for an online model/year table but, have been unable to locate one.<br /> Thanks in advance,<br /> ecafy

Howdy, Ecafy.<br /><br />Your CD-18 is a 1961,<br /><br />and your CD-23 is a 1966.<br /><br />The CD-18 requires a 24:1 mix (some friction bearings) and the CD-23 will do fine with a 50:1 mix.<br /><br />Both models need a .020 point gap and Champion J4C plugs gapped at .030.<br /><br />Get a Repair Manual here: http://www.outboardrepairs.com/manuals/ <br /><br />Good luck.

I have a Sea Horse 6hp model vwb19074b serial 66x14265. runs great but is leaking lower unit lube - like if I fill it and run it for an hour it's empty or full of water. they laughed at the marina today when I inquired about parts. they did suggest that I fill it with 90 weight lube, since I use it mainly as a backup to the 25hp on my boat. Any suggestions on obtaining replacement seals ? at the marina they said there were 4 or 5 I might need. thanks

deepdAVE, post a pic of your motor if you can. I agree that those numbers don't sound like an OMC engine. Perhaps it is a Chrysler.

That is not a Sea Horse, Dave, it is a Sea King, made by Chrysler.

hi i have a 70s model johnson sea horse with the white top and brown bottom i just bought it it runs good but..its very very slow does anyone know what i can do? its realy slow

Check spark on both cylinders- you may want to post a new question instead of tagging onto a hijacked thread from 2008 which started in 2003
