I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT PART NUMBER OR WHAT I NEED TO GET A LOWER UNIT GEAR KIT FOR MY 86 JOHNSON 25HP OUTBOARD, OR WHERE TO GET A GOOD DEAL ON SAME

Hi Jason....<br /><br />Could you tell us if you have a split gear case or one piece gear case. Makes a difference. Or just post the whole model number.<br /><br />OEM cost for gears in the split gear case around $460. OEM cost for gears in a one piece gear case around $430.<br /><br />You may try after market areas like NAPA. But don't know if you will see much difference in price.<br /><br />You may try Ebay also. May run across a good used gear case.

THE MODEL NUMBER IS J25TECDC AND I ACCUALLY ONLY NEED THE GEAR THAT GOES ON THE END OF THE SHAFT<br /><br />THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!

Jason....you have a one piece gear case.<br /><br />The forward gear will set ya' back $164. If you are replacing the gear because the lobes are rounded, you also may want to replace the clutch dog also. This would set you back $92.
