I have a 1986 60hp Evinrudeon my boat that starts and idles great and works well up to about 1/4 throttle, any more than that and the engine will bog down and eventually quit(I've tried chocking it while opening up the throttle and this immediately shuts the engine down. Now thats the problem, please let me explain the events that led upto this (because the motor ran absolutely perfect upto this).During a freak storm the boat broke loose, turned sideways and got swamped(this all happened while tied offshore,so the motor was never submerged).Anyways after a lot of bailing I finally got the boat to the point where I could start it and take it back to the dock and load it onto the traler. It was while doing this that I first discovered the above problem. What I discovered after I put the boat back onto the trailer was that the oil tank was about half full of water. I've drained the oil, cleaned the tank, refilled it with new oil, purged the line going upto the motor.I've replaced the gasoline in the tank, I've had the sparkplugs out(they were a nice brown color , although not completely dry), I cleaned them and put back in.<br />I checked fuel filter it appears good and clean. All this to no avail ,any ideas guys?? I've run out! I'm convinced the problem is a simple one, however it appears that at least for this I'm the simple one.
