will my 1974 85hp v4 powerhead work on a 73 135hp

hello i got rearended and it tore up the mid and lower part of motor iwas wanting to know if my 1974 85hp v4 evinrude powerhead will work on a 1973 135hp evinrude. or if someone has one it will work on. Thanks Tom

Sorry to hear about your rear end.<br /><br />Your 74 powerhead will bolt directly on the 73 midsection. The individual powerhead components are different and will not mix but the powerhead assembly will bolt up. Your 74 will bolt up to any V4 mid section from 73 to 76. It will also bolt to the 77 20" 85 and 115. Not the 77 140 mid section.<br /><br />If you use the 73 mid section and in the future need powerhead components (block, crank, rods or pistons) be sure to order them as a 1974. IE -- you cannot go by the model number on the 73 mid section.<br /><br />Good luck!

They are very close. In later years they were all mostly 2:1. There were some variations, but only slight.
