6HP Johnson...Plugs??

Here's what I have ...1984 6HP Johnson J6RCRM. The plugs that were in this motor are Champion L77JC4 and gapped at.040. I looked up this motor on a plug chart posted by another fella , here in the board, and it says to use QL77JC4 or QL86C gapped at .030.....I'm not sure if the "Q" prefix makes a difference. The tag on the plug wire calls for L77J4. Are the plugs that I have now a different heat range? Any hints, opinions, guesses?? Thanks :D

Thanks so much for the info. I did re-gap these to .030. I run only a portable sounder at times off of a small lawn and garden 12V battery , so that souldn't be a problem with RFI.

What you have is a commercial 6 johnson and it does call for the QL77JC4 GAP AT 30
