Hello,

I am new here. I have 1976 135 Evinrude. I rebuild the both trim hyd cylinders. Since I can't locate the hydrulic oil resevour tank, I assumed the top plug at near the motor is for oil top up. After filling some oil into it, the hyd motor suddenly quit when I tried to trim the motor up. Now, I can only hear the "click" each time I flip the switch but pump not working. Did I screwed up by filling into wrong plug and fried the motor? If not, how and where to top up the oil? Thank you in advance.

Hi Pure...welcome to the iboats forums.

The motor "sits" on the reservoir. Look for the mating line and below that there should be a plug to fill the reservoir.

Where is the "plug" you pulled exactly?

Hi OutboardJim,

Thank you for the respond. I attached an address, similar to mine. Hope you can view it. I'll plan to dismental to clean pump and motor tomorrow. I think I screwed up by filling oil into electrical motor. The plug location is about 2 to 3" from the top. Any idea how to prime oil into the cylinders?

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/da...0x&.dir=/Tilt+Trim&.dnm=tilt-trim.jpg&.src=ph

I was kinda' 'fraid ya' did that. After cleaning, and you know the motor runs, reassemble. Fill reservoir through the correct plug till the level is at the edge of the hole. Cycle the TNT up into the full tilt position. Remove the fill plug and fill the reservoir again. Cycle the engine up and down about 4 times and leave in the full up position. Check the level and top off again if needed. Cycle the engine again and repeat the above step again. Always remember to check the reservoir level with the engine in the full up position. Don't worry about priming. The system is self venting and will expell air to the reservoir.
