Hi guys, the motor is an 84 115 rude.the problem is 115 readings in three out of four cyls. The starboard lower cyl is only about 25.It is a shock to me with the care i take of the motor.Never run hard, never even ran warm.the idle was low one day so assuming it was time for a carb rebuild,I did a comp test first.I was stunned. The motor runs fine with a higher idle and when on plane the power seem to be the same as always.I am going to try a decarb on the low cyl as suggested by a member and want to know which side of the carb to spray in to target that cyl.Someone mentioned that these carbs are crossflow???? If your compression is 25psi on one cyl..remove the head of that cyl and have a look.

TMD

You can also squirt some directly into the offending cylinder through the spark plug hole and let it sit awhile.

Thanks guys.I appreciate the offer Marine doctor and I will probably have to take you up on it.I was prepared to remove the head, but I thought I would try the decarb first in case I broke any bolts,a few of them are a little rusty.Good or bad idea??? Charlie
