I have a yr2000 Johnson 150 ocean pro. Burning lots of oil (1 gal oil to 8gal fuel). Do I have a bad VRO pump? I have checked the fuel line and found no restrictions. Lots of blue smoke but runs and idles great. Any help would be appreciated..

Well you are off to a good start by checking the fuel line...is there any sign of oil leaking into the boat somewhere?

As you already suspect..there is something wrong with your VRO. Either change it out...discontinue with oil injection...or have a Tech test the pump...sounds like the fuel side is a little weak.

TMD

An air leak in the fuel system is the most common culprit for making a VRO pump too much oil. Insert a piece of clear fuel line at the inlet fitting and run the motor at all speeds while looking for bubbles in the line. A vacuum gauge "teed" into the clear line should show a restriction of less than 4", 2.5 is ideal.
