pondering that rope in the bypass port deal, it occurred to me that rather than giving sixty bucks to the bloodsuckin Snap On man (tho we had a snap on girl driver for a while that wore a bikini from may to october, lol, guys would happily buy stuff they didnt need just to see her bend over the book, lol)<br /><br />A two by four with an old seat belt or a dollar store nylon ratchet strap screwed to it would make a good wrench I think, whatcha think guys?

Hello<br /> it might<br /> will it hold 130-140 ft pounds without dumping ya some of the new 4 strokes go to 225 ft pounds. if it slips at that range the tech jumps but it might work ok for a one shot use. I have done similar things with old seat belts. good idea and keep posting

I made an adjustable wrench out of a 4'-2x4, C-clamp and an old piece of 1"x6' machine belt off of an old surface grinder. It has never failed OR slipped

nah Rod, my old clunkers are 105 pounders, I just hope it holds together for three times, lol, I want to take the "parts motor" (which is supposedly a good motor, but missing its head)(go figure!) and the the other two motors once I have the first one figured out. oh yeah, the ten horse too, so four motors ... well, ol johnny hasnt had a tune up since 1990, last time it was run, but it was a fairly recent tune up THEN, lol, maybe I can slide by with just doing the plugs and giving the carb a good soaking/ cleaning

Jamming the starter works fine on those 105lb'ers. And I have a weak joint on my starter's top bearing. I use a bit of aluminum rod (~1/8") since it's soft and won't mar the gears. <br />225ft-lbs??? I wouldn't try the starter trick on those... or the fill up the cylinder trick...

I found a 2" strap wrench and replaced the strap with a long 1" serpentine belt from a truck. The wrench handle is cast iron. I havn't found a flywheel yet that I can't remove, and it doesn't slip a bit. The company's called Superior Tool Company, outta Cleveland , Ohio. The wrench model number is 03612. I think Lowe's Building Centers carry their line.<br /> Strap Wrench
