I have been doing some testing of props and engine positions to increase my WOT RPM>>>I'm now running at abt 5400rpm as suggested, but I'm now noticing an oil residue running down from under the front of the powerhead. Some of this looks like its spent fuel & oil (dark & thick) and some looks as though its fresh oil/fuel mix??? I looked under the cowl, and didn't see any fuel leaks.
This is a 1978 Johnson 115hp.
IS THIS NORMAL??? I don't ever remember seeing this before. Something I should worry about or not???
Thanks

My 2000 Johnson 70 does that. I think its caused by tilting the motor up for transporting. fuel runs out of the carbs into the air intake.

Oberboat....true statement, all carburated engines would leak fuel fwd when trimmed up, not just the cross-flows.....good point...
