1964 Starflite 90-S, need help to rebuild . . .

Hi everybody, I'm new to the boating club. I picked up a PrinceCraft 12" with the trailer and a 1964 Evinrude Starflite 90-S, V-4 90hp with the 4 barrel carburator. (really 4 carburators when you take it apart.

I need help as I'm overhauling it. When I got it, the entire foot was in a box, taken apart and rusted but I found another foot in very good shape. I bought the Clymer book but it does'nt say much about that motor so I wrote to them a few weeks ago but they dont seem to have the time to reply to their customers.

Anybody on this list have one of those motor who would be willing to share information ?

I really need help.

Thanks.

Mike.... No one giving advice on this forum would be able to guide you through the vast amount of work facing you. If your manual isn't sufficient, and if there's no manuals on this site (below) that would contain the complete information you would need (a factory OMC Service Manual), contact me at the address below and remind me of this e-mail.

I am currently rebuilding the exact same engine.... had a piston froze in the cylinder... just got done honing out the cylinders, and they look now. once i buy a new piston, and a gasket set, i should be good to go.

Im using a SELOC manual, while not the best one, it is pretty helpful. After im done rebuilding this, i plan on selling it, since its pretty much mint condition besides the fact mice made a home in it... I got it looking brand new now.

If you need any info, as i currently have mine apart, just ask and ill help, im fairly new to rebuilding outboards, but how lots of experience in the auto/small engine fields.

This is one of the easiest engines i have ever worked on..

Thanks guys for the reply, I'm actually quite decent with tools, I've worket on plenty gas motors, but never on two stroques.

the motor is preety much rebuilt by now, all parts cleaned and painted, the carb anf fuel pump were also rebuilt. A quick question about the exhaust plate, the top hole is connected to a hot air tube and then to the carburator for the automatic choke, is there supposed to be anything on the bottom hole ?

Pics are available since I have a digital cam.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The bottom hole that you speak of is to be left open. That is so that air can be drawn through to the choke housing.
