I just purchased a 30HP Evenrude. The owner wasn't sure what year it was but thought it was a 1989. The cover says 30HP but the Model # is E25ELCCM. I thought that the "E25" stood for Evenrude 30HP". The serial # of the unit is R734881. Can someone please provide me with a link where I could possibly figure out what I just bought?
Thanks, I'm new but learning alot from this forum.

Wow..I just read your reply post on the Evinrude model number. That's really helpful stuff.

I just bought an Evinrude myself.. my model is CF30ELESS.

It too is a 30hp and electric start. Is it possible to tell me anything else about this motor?

Furthermore, can you point me to a resource that can help me determine if there are any problems with this motor? I may be interested in getting a repair manual.

Thanks!

V

Welcome to Iboats, Backlasher!
If you're looking for J/E info, troubleshooting and repair, this is the place.
Here's the breakdown of your model number:
C - Canadian
F - Must be an 'E' for Evinrude
30 - 30hp
E - Electric Start
L - Longshaft (fits a 20" transom)
ES - '90
S - Model run (meaningless)
The date code works like this:
INTRODUCES
1234567890
So CD would be '86, since C=8 and D=6.

The very best manuals are the factory ones. Well worth the extra few bucks:
TheOutboardWizard
Mastertech
Marine Engine
Ken Cook
Sometimes they turn up on ebay too. Keep your eyes open and you can save a bundle!

Oh, and feel free to start your own topic rather than hunting around for an old one that seems to match. Too many old posts here to keep track of. Good that you figured out the search button though. It answers most questions. :)
