This is what happens, I pump up the fuel bulb and start the motor without any problems, idles for about 2 minutes and motor slowly dies. fuel bulb has to be pumped up again and motor starts without any problem again. This time I start pumping the fuel bulb before the motor dies and I start getting the low oil buzzer alarm and the bulb was soft and needed about 4 pumps before it became hard. The motor contiued to run with the alarm I reset with the key and restarted, motor idles great but won't produce power and no alarm. I think I have a leak in the fuel line and sucking air but I can't find a leak. I have mixed 50:1 oil in main tank while trouble shooting this problem, just to be on the safe side. I have used my boat several time over the last week and this problem has just showed up today.

Hey tex,One of two things come to mind with the symptoms you describe.Check for any restriction (crud) on the fuel pickup tube in fuel tank.Usually if there is a restriction upstream of the vro pump however it will cause the primer bulb to colapse when engine is running. If the engine will continue to run as long as you continue to pump the primer ball ,it is indicative of a failing fuel pump.Insure that the VRO pump pulse hose that runs from the crankcase to the air motor diaphragm of the vro pump is securely connected at both ends and is free of cracks or a rubbed through spot from chaffing.

Also need to rule out the possibility of a defective primer bulb or anti-syphon valve on fuel tank fitting. Also ,post the year model of the engine in question and describe the alarm you were getting. One short tone every 20 to 40 secs depending on the year of engine is the "low oil" in reservoir alarm."No oil" alarm from vro is rapid short tones.

True it is a 1990 150GT. I found the problem after reading your reply. The pulse line from the crankcase to the air motor was loose and had almost fallen off. Both hose clamps were broken. I'll check tomorrow in the water!! You guys are great thanks for the help! Also after checking the other clamps on other hoses I have found several that were broken are loose. I have replaced most of them with TY-Rap connectors. Is this safe to do and do they hold up under the heat load? "No oil" alarm from vro is rapid short tones and this was the alarm.

Sounds to me like you've found your problem.A leaky pulse hose will cause the "no oil" alarm.Standard tie wraps are iffy when it comes to a 360 dgree compression seal around fuel fittings.Dealer sells some for this purpose, although I replaced all of mine with stainless clamps.Just need to be careful not to overtighten and crack plastic fittings. Also a little bit of a pain getting all of the screw heads accesible.Good luck ,and I hope that pulse line repair solves your problem.
