had previous post about erratic idle on my new to me 1999 200 johnson. i was advised here to clean the carbs. i got three of them pulled tonight and put back on. i notice when i removed them there is an o-ring between the carb main body and the throttle plate. it looks as the o-ring was installed with some type of silicone. my manual does not indicate using any type of sealer on these o-rings and i didn't. should i have?

That o-ring as you noticed is very light. I use needle bearing grease to hold it in place for installation. It would be easy to get out of place if you did'nt hold it with something. That's all that sealer was for you seen.

Brokeboater...listen to what RJohnson says. Use a lite lube to hold the O'ring in place....vaseline will work. But DO NOT use any kind of RTV.
