I have a 97 130 HP evinrude. When I start it out of the water to flush it I noticed that water was comeing out where the lower unit mounts. Is there a seal or a gasket that needs to be replaced? Also at the same time, I did not see water comeing from the tell tale spout.
Is there a manual for my eng that I can purchase?

Re: Water Leak

Welcome to the iboats forums Darryl....

The water coming from the seam between the lower unit and midsection is normal when running the engine on muffs or flushetts.

Now I'm going to ask a stupid question, when you flush the engine on flushetts, you are running the engine aren't you?

Service manuals come in two varieties, the OEM Service manual or the generics. The generics can be bought from iboats. These are OK for everyday care. For troubleshooting and specific info on your particular model, get the OEM. You can get these from any Johnny/Rude dealer. Very worth while to have. Will save a lot of questions.

Keep us posted if you have any other questions...thanks.

Darryl...if the engine ain't overheating, try a piece of wire up the pee hole. May be just plugged.

Keep us posted...

Re: Water Leak

Also to go with OBJ's good advice, put your finger on the powerhead when the motor is warmed up and see if you can hold it there for a few seconds without getting burned. You will know if it's overheating, because you will have to remove your finger RIGHT away..
