I purchased this motor new in 1997 and have never had a single problem. I had not been able to boat much lately and the boat was not used for over 7 months. After checking everything out I went on a 3 day trip with some budies. The engine had literally never run better for 2 1/2 days. Heading back to the boat ramp the last day it just shut down on me. It will start but runs extremely rough. I can get it to start but as as soon as I throw it in gear it shuts down. If I try to throttle up the motor with out putting it in gear it shuts down. I had to be towed in the last 1/4 mile. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have not checked either yet. As my boat is quite a ways from the dealer I use I thought I would check here first and see if anything came up. I will try and get it in later this week. Just seemed odd to me as, like I stated earlier this has been the most trustworthy motor I have ever owned.

Thanks

Until you said the compression checked out, it sounded just like my '98 175 Ficht. Same story but I lost compression in 2 cylinders. I have been told either repair or trash the motor. Trying to come up $2500-3000 for repair or down payment on another. Shame since It was such a great motor too. Good luck!

Also, did you guys ever de carb? I was never aware of needing to de carb. Manual or dealer never said to - at least that I can find. Thats what they said did my motor in.

Hey guys, I have a ficht 2000 225. My 2 problems I had with mine was the poteniometer for the throddle. This device moves back and fourth as you give it more and less throddle. Then inputs this information into the computer, then the computer sends more and less fuel as needed. At least thats the way I understand it.Im not sure if the 150 is the same.. Mine was faulty. Part was pretty cheap. The other problem was the computer went bad. Hope its not your problem. They talk about this a little, On page 4. The post is titled 225 FIGHT SHUT OFF WONT START. Its about halfway down the page.. When my computer went bad, engine was running just fine. And motor just shutoff..Hope this helps, good luck.
