'93 Johnson Tracker 40hp throttle adjustment

went from a Rude 50hp (blown top cylinder) to a 40hp Johnson . I'm using the same controls , I took it out today and seems like it is not getting enough RPM and/or throttle . Does any one know how to adjust ? Thanks B in SC

Don't know if the controls are linkage compatible ,however if you remove the intake silencer cover ,observe whether the carb flaps are fully closed in the neutral throttle position and fully horizontally open in the wide open throttle position.Before shifting into gear with the engine not running,have someone spin the prop by hand to assist the shift to prevent binding.The engine also may have other issues as fouled carbs or carb synchrnization problem.Hope I've been of some help.
