???28 hp year???

Anyone have a link to a site or know how I can figure out the year of my 28 hp Johnson on an Alumacraft?<br /><br />Any help is appreciated.<br /><br />Mod. No. J28ESLCEA<br /><br />Thanks,

It's an 89, Dat.<br /><br />After 1970, the first two of the last three letters of the model number use the code matching the letters of "introduces" to 1-0.<br /><br />Therefore, the CE in your model number correspond to the numbers 8 and 9.

dat_guy <br />I have that same motor, right down to the year. It has been an excellent motor and has never given me a days trouble. Just regular maintenance and it will last forever..And yes, mine is the special, too. No frills to it like T&T or VRO.
