I have a 1987 Sierra boat with a 90 hp motor. Also, there is a mounted gas tank within the boat. My problem is that the boat starts up fine but after opening the throtle the engine bogs down and slows right down. I have tried many things to fix it from what I have read on here. The first thing I have done was attach a portable gas tank to my motor with a different bulb and hose. When I did this it ran perfectly fine and had no problems. So this makes me think that it is some sort of fuel problem. I have replaced the bulb and that is not the problem. From what I read, it is either a hole in the hose, the gas in the tank is bad, or the anti-siphon valve is bad. My question is am I on the right track or is there something else? Also, what should I try to do next? And finally, where is the anti-siphon valve located and how do you remove it and fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

did you check the vent from your built-in tank to make sure its clear? The anti-syphon valve is located at the tank where the fuel line goes in. You can remove this and knock the insides out and see if it runs right. If so, replace the valve.

Re: 90 hp evinrude bogging

I did look through the vent to see if anything was there and nothing seemed to be stuck. I also took the gas cap off and this did not change the bogging down performance. For this anti siphon valve, I believe it is right on top of the gas tank where the rubber tube is attached. I took the rubber hose off and noticed that in the gas tank is a long aluminum bar that extends inside the tank. Is this where the valve is located? Also, this tube can't be pulled out of the gas tank because there is not enough clearence between the tank and the floor. Thanks.

Another potential culpert is the small o-rings in the connectors to tank or motor going bad allowing air to leak in. Easy to replace.

Let us know when you find it.
