The motor is an evinrude. Finally, weather is good enough to start spring tune-up!
Anyways, I removed the cylinder head cover to check on (and replace) the thermostat. No problem, except when I pulled out the pressure relief valve I forgot which end goes into the head first.
The pressure relief plunger is of red plastic, and is a cylindrical device with a flange separating it into two sections, one is longer than the other. I popped the thing out and had a brain fart as to how it was installed. My SELOC manual blown-up powerhead diagram is kinda fuzzy; it appears that the longer section goes into the head, with the short section protruting out towards the cover over which goes the spring.
I'm just hoping someone can confirm this so I don't put it in backwards and have to remove the cover again. Also, what kind of sealant, if any, should I use to install the new cylinder head cover gasket (note: this engine has a cylinder head cover, which I have removed. This is not the cylinder head itself, which I have no reason to remove).
