two weeks ago i replaced the tstats on a 1989
110 evi and everything seemed fine.
today i started it again because i will use the boat this week and it idled at 1800 rpm.
this is a litle high.
Normaly it would idle around 1400 1500 rpm on muffs. in water it did idle 700 rpm in gear.
dont know watr it is now.
i checked the throthle cable and trunion nut and i could not find a problem there.
could this have anything to do with the tstats?
the left side (looking from back) feels a litle colder than the right cylinder bank.
but it stil feels warm to me.
there were ssteel and i replaced with brass.
do they run cooler?

Re: 1800rpm on muffs

What comes to mind is with the new t-stats the motor could be running a little hotter which could kick up the rpm a bit. I have a pair of 1987s and I had a simular problem. Mine would not idle well at all and would die frequently when put in neutral. New t-stats solved the problem and brought the rpm up. Those motors don't like to run too cold or to hot.
