I have a 73 40hp johnson that i would like to put on a 82 sea nymph. The boat has a rack type system with a single cable, is their a kit to connect this to the motor? The motor looks like it may have used pulleys before.

Assuming your motor has a tilt tube, all you would need is the Link Arm to connect the cable to the motor. Look like this:

there is no tilt tube. the front of the motor has a bar that extends out the front (about 3 inches) the same shape as the case. in the middle of that bar there is a hole to put a pin into for a pulley system.

You will need a clamp block to make the steering work with your motor. You bolt this onto the boat and then mount the steering cable to it..
web page

Not that I am personally familar with, although I believe others have had success lubricating them and freeing them up. You may want to start a separate topic on that problem in the, Boat Topics and Questions (not engine topics), section on the this forum. I'm sure someone will have some ideas other than replacement. Or you may want to do a Search in the red box for "stiff steering".
