Hi, I just moved to east central Florida and decided that I need my first boat. I was looking for a small cuddy. The local dealer has a used 2000 Wellcraft 2400 Martinique coming in and is offering it to me for $25K. This was more boat than I wanted but it seems like a great deal. Is this too good to be true, or is it typical to find deals well below NADA value. Any information would be appreciated.

Hey TJ,

Welcome to the board. That is a lot of boat for a 1st, WOW. A 25 foot 2-1/2 ton boat with deisel engine is one serious 1st boat.

I had a 24' wood cuddy with O/B with less beam and not near the weight than this and it was a lot of boat to move around eapecially around other boats in the marina. I assume this will be kept in water too big for anything else.

NADA has it priced between 32,000.00 to 41,500.00 for standard boat/motor package. I didn't add any extras (didn't know) to price. If the boat is in good shape 25k is dirt cheap, could be the deal of a lifetime.

Have the dealer take you out in it, splash it, take a cruise to Cuba (just kidden) but take it out in the ocean. This boat would be at home in the ocean, you should know if you would be with this boat.

Sometimes a dealer won't go through that, even though it would be a great deal (IF NOTHING IS WRONG) you still want to check it out as best you can! 25k is a lot of money. Pay a mechanic 15o bucks, or what ever the going rate is down there, to go with you to check out the engine. A lot of mechanics would like to make a few bucks under the table on a Saturday. Check around and get a good mechanic.

Check out the price here --> http://www2.nadaguides.com/ValueReport.asp?UserID=060822E0139&DID=37302&Type=MR&GCode=MR&wPg=1107&wSec=4&Com=1129&Year=2000&Model=16112900072

It is one beutiful exciting boat!!! Good lucK!!!

***Take a U.S.C.G. approved boating course.

Just one man's 2 cents worth. ;)

Welcome aboard TJ. I like that fact that you NEED a boat.

It seems as though there is no anchor locker that is accessable from top sides. There should be some way to store it from up there, or maybe it gets stored on the rollers if equipped with a bow pulpit and lock. There is available a lock down device with points to protect deck, to secure the anchor to the deck.
I installed a cleat on mine specifically for the anchor, of course you'll have to have access for a backing to give it strength.

Nice boat for one with experience.
