No trailer? Try 1000 or less. You can get alot more for 2500. Be patient and save your money. Watch ebay and spend half of your budget on the purchase so you have the other half for repairs. I'd stay away from OMC if I was young and on a slim budget. I bought my 19 ft searay with a nice dual axle trailer and Merc I/O for 3000. It was in excellent condition. Think of when you need to sell it. You want to get as much as your money back as possible. You remind me when I was 16 and was dying to get a boat, also because of my Grandfathers influence. He taught my to be patient and make wise thoughtfull decisions. If you buy the first thing you see that you can afford, your beggin fer trouble. This also applies to women. ;)

You seem to have made up your mind,.........

But,.......... I Have to Agree with the others......

You're setting yourself up for the Biggest Nightmare of your short Life..........

That is a 30yr old boat.... The OMCs of that era were,+ Still are a POS... It was Junk,+ Expensive to fix when New...
Now it's 30yrs old,+ there are Very Few parts ava.,+ the Prices of the parts are Through the Roof.......

And,...... I Also Agree that $2500. Even Canadian Funds is Way Too Much, for a boat that Old, with an OMC drive,+ No Trailer...........

It would a Ashame to Start Throwing Money Away, at such a young age...........

I don't know where you are in Ontario,......
And, I don't know if you'd be interested,.......
But,.. there's a Chris-Craft, I believe a Lancer, sitting in the lot out back......
It Had a Volvo drive in it,+ now has a 250hp offshore Johnny-Rude bolted to it, which Runs......
The switch from I/O to outboard could have been done a little Stronger at the Transom,... So It'll need a little reworking,+ Reinforceing.....

But,... It can be had for $900.US.....Boat,+ Motor...... No Trailer.......
It sits 20 miles south of the border in Watertown Ny.

If you might be interested, I can email some pic.s to you.....

look here at the nada guide

http://www.nadaguides.com/Values/Va...R&wSec=4&wPg=1105&Com=1382&Year=1979&Letter=S

you dont say what drive and motor it has which makes a big difference in value

only your eyes can tell if the boat is shipshape or shipwreck

when you get that old shipwreck is very common so check it out very carefully that price is at the high end so it should be in very good shape to pay that much

tommays

cuzner. i am still fairly new to the world of boating. would it not be foolish for me to ignore people that have years of experience? dose anyone know of someone on this forums that may have a boat in the ontario area tha they might be willing to part with to a good ol canadian country boy?

Re: 1977 crestliner 22ft f/g cuddy?

I hade a 77 SeaRay 22 foot with a 351 Windsor 235hp and a OMC out drive . I had NO TROUBLES with my out drive at all ! But like they are saying they don't make em anymore so if something does go wrong ... well $$$ . But if the boat is in good shape get it $2500 is not to much I payed $3000 for mine with no trailer , we where in the thing all the time for 3 years ... only thing that happened to me was I spun a prop an SS one , and had to replace a coil never even changed the plugs in the boat once . I sold the boat for $3500 bucks with no trailer at the end of last summer . Good luck

I'm from Windsor Ontario , I have been up your way to go Snowmobiling . If this is your first boat you should go smaller ... my first was a 16.5 foot Dorel with a 120 merc I/O GREAT boat 7.5 mpg payed $1200 with a trailer, needed some work ... floor , carpet and tilt motor $500 bucks had it for one year out grew it , sold it for $3000 in 5min ... put the for sale sighn on it 5 min later SOLD . Anyways BLA BLA BLA hahaha sorry had a few beers , Right now I have a 1978 18 foot firebird formala with a 115 merc outboard with a trailer might be willing to part with , I want bigger ! and I might be picking up a 20hp kicker motor for it to . You should be able to pick a boat up up your way , there is a ton of em . Good luck
