Im trying to install a kill switch on my 71 60 horse johnson. Instructions say hook pos. to blue wire but blue wire runs to shift solenoid. Also, have a black-yellow stripe wire in harness that doesn't show in manual and can't find it on engine after it disappears into harness, seems to be a ground. any thoughts? Thanks

Re: kill switch

Check at the key switch for the wire that is closed to ground when the key is off. I believe thats the one you want.

Re: kill switch

Thanks, Angus Im a duct tape fan myself. Thought the same thing about the ground wires but I have two and they seem to be grounded whether the switch is off or on. Will check again tonight to be sure. Could it be the black yellow wire? I still dont know where it goes.

Re: kill switch

Black/yellow is the kill wire from the ignition. That is where you would want to tag into..
