Evinrude model number

25802 a '78 25hp through and through.<br />I think the 25852 and 25853 JB refers to are the electric start ones, where 25802 and 25803 are rope start.

Steve<br /><br />That is the HP rated at the crankshaft. It is 25 HP. Current HP readings are taken at the propshaft. So I guess the answer to your question is, by todays standards, no, not "True" HP. It would be more like a 22-23 HP by todays standards, if you were to measure it at the propshaft. But on that small of a motor, it is not as significant as on a larger one.
