Just noticed something. When I first came here I thought my engine was a 1985, and got advice to get the QL77JC4 plugs. I think I then found out my engine was a 1983, which the sparkplug chart here on IBOATS says I should use a UL77V or QL16V Surface Gap

Can you tell me what year my eng is, and if I am ok?

Thanks!

200 HP J5854641, model# J200TLCTS

It's a 1983 and it uses Champion QUL77V or UL77V plugs.

c/6
Hooty

The year is 1983 and according to my sources ,you got it right on the recommended sparkplugs.

I don't know enough to advise on that.I'm not aware one way or the other whether you would have any interference issues with respect to the combustion chamber or piston heads.

You probaly didn't damage anything, just not getting the maxium performance out of the motor. Put the right plugs in and gap them correctly. You should notice a better running engine.
