Before I start working on my 1997 50 horsepower Johnson Spl, does anyone know what the SPL stands for, I think it means special, but what is the difference between a 50 and a 50 spl? thanks
The SPL or Special, usually means the motor did not come from the factory with T&T and possibly the oil injection system. Kind of like a bare bones motor. Most used to be called a 48 special..
