I have a 1985 Johnson 150 that seems to be having carb problems. I am not sure. When I go to WOT I seem only be running at about 3/4 power. This is better than before. I have run some carb cleaner spray through it and that seemed to help. Is there something else I can check? Is there a guide book for these kinds of repairs?

Thanks

922 - OMC made great shop manuals and parts books with detailed parts diagrams for their motors. They are available and are the best.

Sounds like you need to rebuild the carbs. They are simple to work on and the manuals give all the detail you will need.

Any suggestions on getting an OMC manual?

Check compression! It seems that everyone that this happens to finds one hole low. I am in the process of rebuilding my 235 cause on day it was about 1000 rpms down and 10 mph starboard lower hole no 6 was at 75 the rest at 125

Actually I figured out the real culprit. It turns out that the fuel line and/or tank (external) was block. When I got a new ones and ran it at WOT for about half a tank it started working at full capacity. Thanks for the ideas. Looks like I miht be able to avoid redoing the carbs for now.

Keep in mind the carbs supply fuel and oil. If it isnt getting fuel then its not getting oil.

Pistons dont like that.
