Hi
I recently bought a used OMC prop for my Johnson 55. I went from a 17 pitch to a 15 to increase my rpm. The replacement prop didn't have a diffuser ring fitted, so I tried to take the one off of my old prop to fit it to my new one. The obvious happened and I broke the ring, so I made a repair with araldite and taped the ring in place while the araldite cured.

When I took my boat out, about 500 yards from the ramp, the engine suddenly picked up by a couple of hundred rpm for no apparent reason. When I got back in, I discovered that the diffuser ring was missing. I'm assuming that the increase in rpm happened when my repair failed and the ring came off.

So, two questions.

How do I fit a new diffuser ring without breaking it? And will it hurt to run my engine without a diffuser ring fitted?

The engine ran great a the higher rpm.

Thanks
Steve
